The beginning of the beginning.
Since my earliest years, I’ve been immersed in technologies of many kinds. I was raised in Huntsville, Alabama of NASA fame, the epicenter of space travel, and went to prep school in Edison, New Jersey, a stone’s throw from the site of Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory.
My family literally helped build NASA and Redstone Arsenal base in Huntsville prior to Werner von Braun’s arrival with his brother when scores of European rocket scientists were relocated to the city. In the 1970’s my brother Julian and I went to the first incarnations of ‘Rocket Camp’, NASA’s groundbreaking experience for kids.
My proudest moments as a very young child were accompanying my father to his office at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, N.J., and taking home a three ring binder and other items emblazoned with the famed laboratory’s logo.
I was a child of modest intellect, but growing up surrounded by the world’s greatest minds in Huntsville, AL and Edison, NJ had a profound effect on me.
